Our Engagements
Three Ways to Work
Through a Cross-Border Question
Each engagement is sized and priced for a specific type of advisory need. You choose the one that fits your current situation.

How We Approach Every Engagement
We begin by reading what you send us — company background, the market you are considering, the question as you understand it. Before we say anything, we sit with what we have received.
Our research draws on published regulatory sources, trade body documentation, sector-specific reports, and where relevant, our network of in-country contacts. We do not present secondary research as proprietary intelligence.
The writing is done by the same person who read your materials and ran your sessions. We do not fragment the work. The result is a document that reflects a consistent point of view, not a committee output.
Brief and Context
You send a brief message describing your situation. We review it and confirm whether and how we can help — before any engagement is agreed.
Scope Agreement
We propose the most fitting engagement, state the scope and fee, and wait for your agreement before beginning work.
Research and Sessions
We conduct desk research and hold the working sessions included in your engagement type, at times convenient to your team.
Written Deliverable
We deliver the written output within the stated timeline. The document is yours to keep, share, and build upon.
Engagement One
Cross-Border Entry Engagement
For Malaysian firms considering a first move into Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam — or for ASEAN firms looking to settle a presence in Malaysia. We prepare a written market posture document covering the terrain you need to understand before you commit.
- Regulatory landscape overview for target market
- Common operating structures and their practical implications
- Distributor and partner conventions for your sector
- Talent cost estimates and cultural notes
- Shortlist of candidate partners or local counsel
- Three working sessions with your team
Duration
~8 weeks
Fee
RM 3,100
Engagement Two
Bearings Review
A mid-term check-in for firms already operating across a border and wanting an outside read on whether the original direction still holds. We review the first eighteen to twenty-four months of activity, sit with your in-country lead, and deliver a written assessment with specific adjustments.
- Review of 18–24 months of in-market activity
- Session with your in-country lead
- Short written assessment (3–4 suggested adjustments)
- Covers operating model, pricing posture, or talent footprint
- Final discussion session included
Duration
~6 weeks
Fee
RM 1,950
Engagement Three
Coordinate Note
A single written note responding to a specific cross-border question. Useful for founders and senior managers who are weighing a particular decision — such as the choice between a representative office and a subsidiary, or the implications of a specific distributor arrangement — without yet committing to a longer engagement.
- ~1,500 word written response to your question
- Sourced and referenced where appropriate
- One follow-up call to discuss the response
- Delivered within two weeks of brief received
Duration
~2 weeks
Fee
RM 920

Across All Engagements
Standards That Apply to Every Piece of Work
Confidentiality
Client materials and situations are not discussed with other clients or used in published work.
Source Citation
Research sources are noted in the written deliverable. We do not present secondary research as proprietary insight.
Scope Adherence
We do not expand the scope of an engagement without prior discussion. Additional questions are noted and addressed separately.
Timeline Honesty
If unexpected complexity affects the delivery schedule, we communicate this early — not on the delivery date.
Candid Assessment
If the data does not support a proposed direction, we say so clearly in the written deliverable.
Senior Handling
The consultant who signs the engagement agreement reads the materials, runs the sessions, and writes the deliverable.
