A Considered Route
Across Complex Markets

We help Malaysian and ASEAN firms read the terrain before they move — whether that means a new market, a mid-course adjustment, or a single focused question requiring a careful answer.

Our Engagements

Three Ways We Work With You

Each engagement is shaped around a specific need. We do not propose more than the situation calls for.

Cross-border market entry

Cross-Border Entry Engagement

A considered engagement for Malaysian firms stepping into a neighbouring market — or for ASEAN firms settling a presence in Malaysia. We prepare a written market posture document covering regulatory landscape, operating structures, distributor conventions, talent costs, and cultural notes.

  • Written market posture document
  • Shortlist of candidate partners or counsel
  • Three working sessions with your team
  • Roughly eight weeks · RM 3,100
Operating review for established firms

Bearings Review

A mid-term check-in for firms already operating across borders. We review the first eighteen to twenty-four months of activity in a chosen market, sit with your in-country lead, and prepare a short written assessment with three to four suggested adjustments.

  • Market activity review (18–24 months)
  • Written assessment with adjustments
  • Discussion session included
  • Six weeks · RM 1,950
Focused strategic note

Coordinate Note

A single written note responding to a specific cross-border question — for instance, the choice between a representative office and a private limited entity, or the implications of a particular distributor arrangement. Roughly 1,500 words, with one follow-up call.

  • ~1,500 word written response
  • One follow-up call included
  • Delivered within two weeks
  • Single engagement · RM 920

Is There a Market Question Worth Sitting With?

Whether you are weighing an entry into Singapore, revisiting your Indonesia footprint, or need a clear answer on a specific structural question — we work at a pace that matches the weight of the decision.

Why Vespera

How We Orient Our Work

Written, Not Verbal

Every engagement produces a document you keep. Not a slide deck to present once — a posture note or assessment that can be re-read, shared internally, and built upon.

Proportional Scope

We do not expand work to fill a retainer. Each engagement is priced and scoped for the actual question in front of you — nothing more than what the situation needs.

ASEAN-Grounded

Our work focuses on the markets where Malaysian firms most commonly move — Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam — and on the inward journey from those markets into Malaysia.

Unhurried Analysis

Cross-border decisions carry real consequence. We work at a pace that reflects that weight — thorough desk research, proper sessions with your team, careful writing.

Senior Attention

Your engagement is not handed to a junior analyst. The consultant who writes the proposal is the same person who reads your documents, runs your sessions, and delivers the output.

Candid Assessment

If the terrain suggests a market is not yet the right one for you, we say so. Our value is in the quality of the read — not in producing a document that validates a decision already made.

Common Questions

Questions We Often Hear

Who is vesperasad suited to?
We work with founders, senior managers, and board members in Malaysian SMEs and mid-market firms who are considering a first or second move across an ASEAN border. We also work with ASEAN firms — from Singapore, Indonesia, or elsewhere — who want a considered read on operating in Malaysia. Our engagements are not suited to very early-stage companies without any operating history.
Do you cover markets outside ASEAN?
Our core focus is intra-ASEAN movement — Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. For questions that touch markets beyond this region, we will say clearly at the outset whether we can add value or whether another resource would serve you better.
How long does an engagement typically take?
The Cross-Border Entry Engagement runs roughly eight weeks. The Bearings Review takes six weeks. A Coordinate Note is delivered within two weeks of receiving the brief. All timelines assume reasonable access to your team for the sessions included in the engagement.
Are the fees fixed or do they vary by market?
The fees listed — RM 3,100 for a Cross-Border Entry Engagement, RM 1,950 for a Bearings Review, RM 920 for a Coordinate Note — are our standard rates and do not vary by market. If a particular situation involves unusual complexity or a market we would need to research more deeply, we will discuss scope and fee before any agreement is reached.
Do you implement recommendations or only advise?
We are an advisory firm. We map the terrain and offer a considered reading of it — we do not run implementations, manage registration processes on your behalf, or act as agents. Where appropriate, the posture document from the Entry Engagement includes a shortlist of local counsel or advisers who can take practical steps.
